There is established and created a Harwood Heights Special Events Committee consisting
of fourteen (14) members. The mayor and board of trustees, acting jointly, shall appoint
a chairperson or, in their sole discretion, up to two (2) co-chairpersons, in addition
to the remaining members, each of whom shall serve until their successors are appointed.
Membership shall be distributed among village residents.
As a one-time allowance for fiscal year 2017, beginning on January 1, 2017 and continuing
until December 31, 2017, each member of the committee shall receive fifty dollars
($50.00) per meeting attended, but in no event more than a maximum of fifty dollars
($50.00) per month or six hundred dollars ($600.00) per fiscal year, respectively.
The chairperson of the special events committee and up to one co-chairperson shall
each receive seventy-five dollars ($75.00) per meeting attended, but in no event more
than a maximum of seventy-five dollars ($75.00) per month or nine hundred dollars
($900.00) per fiscal year. In addition to the foregoing, all members of the special
events committee may be reimbursed by the village for actual, necessary and documented
business expenses incurred in the performance of their committee duties, provided
that the expense is authorized by a majority of the board of trustees prior to being
incurred. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary herein, the village president as
ex officio member of the special events committee shall not receive any allowance
related to participation in the special events committee.
